Root issues versus fallout issues

I’ve written several times in the past about root issues and fallout issues. I don’t think most people related to the importance of what I was trying to get across. As I see it we spend most of our effort dealing with fallout issues, not even the addressing, or even necessarily recognizing, the root causes these issues. This being the case, until things change, we are destined to stay increasingly mired in the fallout, and not make real or at least lasting progress.

To illustrate what I mean by the root issue versus fallout issues, let’s consider a dam break. As a result of a dam break we’ve got roads washed out, utilities damaged, houses damaged or destroyed, people injured, and many other problems. All the road washouts, damage to houses, etc.—these are the fallout issues from the dam break.  And, while yes we need to address them, as they are serious and immediate—if we don’t recognize the root issue, and that is the dam break, we will be destined to keep having problems with the flooding and the resulting fallout issues from the flooding.  Obviously, in this example, the root issues (the dam break) would be recognized.  But, when it comes to so much to do with government, the powers that be want to avoid discussion or recognition of the root causes of our problems.

If we do not recognize and address the root issues, we will be as effective in dealing with our governmental issues as if we tried to curtail the effects of a rainstorm by trying to catch the raindrops with a bucket.

Some of the things I see as root issues:

·       The sabotage of Article the First (the 1st of the 12 amendments proposed for our bill of rights) and the subsequent failure of We the People to recognize the importance of small districts in order to vet, select, elect, and hold government officials accountable.

·       Creation (and legitimization) of a lobbying industry which operates independent of public scrutiny and accountability, in order to influence government officials.

·       Apportionment Act of 1911, which froze the size of the House of Representatives at 435 members, making it easier for big money and special interests to control  a limited size congress.

·       Passage of the 17th Amendment, which changed the way Senators are selected, opening wide the doors to big money and special interests gaining control over a statewide election versus controlling the an entire state legislature to appoint Senators.

·   The “progressives” development of the State primary system to select candidates for public office, which transferred that function from local, state, and national conventions to a system that empowered big money and special interests of promoting candidates and undermined the people’s ability to vet and select candidates for public office.

·       Creation of the Federal Reserve, and unconstitutional act, which transferred control and responsibility of the valuation of our currency from Congress to an banking cartel, resulting in the continual expansion of the influence of the banking industry over our lives and economy, as well as the continual devaluation and integrity of the U.S. Dollar.

·       The “progressive” idea of promoting a living Constitution, which would circumvent the rigors of the Article V amendment process, which has allowed the Federal government to usurp the authorities left to the states and the people under the Constitution.

These are some of the root issues, which have resulted in the destruction of the Great American Experiment in Self-Government by We the People into a nation controlled by powerful special interests who actually work to the detriment of the General Welfare and other issues contained in the Preamble to the Constitution.

While we must work to contain the damage to all the fallout issues, to truly fix our government system we must recognize the root issues, and educate the general public to the importance of fixing them as to eliminate the fallout issues they cause.  With God’s direction, we need to promote a grass roots involvement capable of both local and national control over our society and government—so that eventually we can truly can enjoy the freedom’s our founders sought from the corruption of big and intrusive government control over our lives.

Previously, I tried to address root issues in my article on the demise of the Great Experiment in Self-Government by We the People on the www.PolicyUSA.com website.
