Lake County chapter of the Freedom Coalition

 

As early as the Mayflower Compact in 1620, the pursuit of freedom and self-government by the people was the goal, not tyranny by a governing elite—an elite who have worked tirelessly over the years to game the system for their benefit and to the detriment of the public at large.

 

It is time for freedom loving people to unite on the non-partisan issues that hold us back, in order to build back a healthy community, a healthy nation and true self-government by We the People.

 

The Freedom Coalition is a grass roots group of people who support our Constitutional Republic, and want self-government by We the People to become a reality—both nationally and locally.   The goal is to promote public awareness on the problems and solutions. For only when such knowledge is broadly understood can we overcome those who are gaming the system. 

 

Currently, much of our government systems are overgrown, wasteful, restrictive of our freedoms, and counterproductive to its intended purpose.  On top of that, powerful forces are entrenched throughout government and non-government businesses and institutions to resist positive change.

 

The advocates of ever-increasing government push a one-size-fits-all bucket of solutions that suit no one, except those with vested interests.  Our nation was founded to have a national government with specific and limited powers—with the various states, municipalities, and people able to accommodate the diversity and opportunities as they desire.

 

The average person is overwhelmed, often simply confused, and feels helpless to do anything to help fix this situation—and thus many simply tune out.

 

As Edmund Burke famously said:  "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."  We can’t do that.

 

Our war for independence from England was never supported by a majority of the colonists.  But as one of our nation’s founders, Samuel Adams stated: "It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds."  As a minority, we can make a difference.

 

The average person in this nation is clueless, both in what they can do and what needs to be done to fix this nation—or how to restore true self-government to We the People.  Our goal is to work to change that.  As Nelson Mandela asserted: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”  Education/enlightenment of the public is the key to change.

 

How wonderful it would be if our Constitution’s purpose, as articulated in its Preamble, was being fulfilled: 

 

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, ensure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

 

If adhered to, our Constitution provides a workable framework to make the goals outlined in the Preamble a reality, at least a growing reality.  But, the federal government has exceeded and abused its authority as specifically enumerated in the Constitution and that must be addressed and dealt with by an informed public that demands the needed reform. 

 

In our view, there are four basic concepts (representation, upholding the Constitution, reining in big business, and enforcing election integrity) that are at the root of our national government’s ills—and which can be explained to a person in just a few minutes.   We see these four issues as both non-partisan and something that any fair minded person would agree with and support.  Additionally, these issues in regard to our federal government should help unify fair minded people.

 

We feel that if the general population was aware of these basic issues—it would open the door to real change.  With a wealth of potential subject matter, it would be great if Hollywood (or others) would produce meaningful and entertaining dramatic films, that brought these concepts into the limelight.  Serious discussion of these topics must be on the national stage for progress to occur.  

 

If these basic concepts (or root issues) are introduced into the public consciousness and dialogue, it will not immediately overcome the forces that want to oppose them, but it will create the start that hopefully will end up making it happen.

 

The discussion above was focused on the national level of government, which unfortunately trespasses all too much upon prerogatives of the States, local municipalities and We the People.   The current interconnectivity must be understood if we are to confront local issues.  As we want to focus on how our local city and county government operates, and what we can do to wrestle control back to the will and common sense of the people. 

 

How can we make this happen?

 

We are currently in the startup phase and seeking a meeting place to accommodate group meetings of at least a dozen people—preferably in the City of Clearlake area as a start.  The goal would be to have one or two meeting a month, in the early evening for a period of 1.5 to 2 hours in duration.  The purpose of a meeting is both to brainstorm how we can be effective, and to gather specifics on how our local government operates in order to make that information available to others.

 

Though not a religious organization, we support the founder’s belief that our nation is the result of Divine providence, and thus would like meetings to start with a short prayer to invite that guidance.

 

In general, small groups of a dozen or less, provide an environment most conducive to free and open discussion.  Hopefully, multiple groups will develop in the Lake County area, capable of interactive sharing of talents and knowledge.

Many are caught up with any number of issues, school curriculum, immigration, the economy, public health, public safety, you name it.  While all of these are serious issues, we will never be able to truly develop and adopt solutions that work unless we can address the four root issues that keep We the People on the sidelines.
